Safety analyses for research reactors. Safety Classification process.

The need to classify systems and structures important for the safety of the nuclear facility is recognized as an important task by IAEA. The classification process for structures, systems and components of Maria research reactor will be described during the presentation. The high-level requirements for this process are stated in the Polish Atomic Law. The detailed procedure developed in the Division of Nuclear Energy and Environmental Studies for this purposes will be discussed, with comments on how it was created and the data inputs required, that are mostly the same as for Probabilistic Risk Assessment.

Special attention will be given to probabilistic analysis. The investigation is part of PhD research activities dedicated to expanding the range of input data for safety analyses performed in Maria research reactor.
