Open Access
oaFindr Database
In respect of the start of implementation of open access policy by MNiSW (http: //www.nauka.gov.pl/otwarty-dostep-do-publikacji-naukowych/) we would like to encourage you to acquaint yourselves with the system from 1science – leading provider of solutions for scientific and academic libraries within the range of open access to publications.
oaFindr database is a search engine for reviewed open access papers (in green, gold, or hybrid form) published in scientific journals all over the world, in any language. Access to the database allows for increasing the quantity and substantive range of published scientific papers and enables you to use the collection of over 25 million peer-reviewed open access articles.
Test access to oaFindr database has been launched and will continue until 24th June.

How to save time and money by taking advantage of the access to 25 million scientific articles
MONTREAL, 10th May 2017 – 1sicence provides university and scientific libraries to substantially reduce time and money spent for access and dissemination of reviewed scientific papers from all the fields of science, in any language and from journals of the whole world. To manage the subscribers, cost-effectively change and expand the collection of journals and quickly fill up the repositories, libraries from four continents of the world currently use 1science database, containing 25 million records.
All over the world libraries face an increasing financial pressure and at the same time, they are expected to publish world-class research results. Endlessly encouraged to undertake new responsibilities, from reviewing the articles to helping with filling up the repositories, scientists have less and less time. „There is a lot of solutions aiding in access to scientific literature, but they are either cost-expensive or labour-expensive”, says Eric Archambault, CEO of 1science. „We have designed economic solutions, which will relieve the library budget and free scientists from time consuming tasks.”
The product line of 1science begins with oaFigr – report, which informs institutions about their current state of free access against the background of the whole world. oaFigr is also the best available solution that helps the transition of libraries into an open access model, helping librarians to calculate the displacement of funds for publishing articles in golden or hybrid open access model, as well as shows the best way to manage journals’ subscriptions to maximize the value for researchers and students.
oaFigr is a platform that enables scientists to immediately find and download a large number of reviewed articles along with connected library records. It allows for a comfortable and elastic access to a growing database of articles, using search engines and linking devices provided by EBSCO, Proquest/Ex Libris and OCLC. Additional accompanying solution – oaFindr+, aids librarians in keeping their repositories up to date without involvement of lecturers and science workers.
The most innovative solution from 1science is oaFoldr, the only self-actualizing and self-filling repository on the market. It ca be utilized by universities and scientific intitutions, which wish for their repositories to be nearly instantly on the level of the biggest repositories in the world, without the need of asking for help from scientific workers and librarians, to spend their valuable time on repeating the work already done by others.
1science company has implemented a global network of distributions providing for universities all over the world. The pioneering clients include École Polytechnique in Montreal, Caltech in California and ETH in Zurich, as well as other prestigious institutions, such as Stanford, McGill and University of Calgary and OA liders, for example Trinity University (Texas).
1science’s mission is to aid in reducing the time and saving money designated to searching for the access to knowledge and its disseminating. 1science develops products combining advanced capabilities of searching and bibliometric analysis with reviewed scientific articles of highest quality. 1science company has its headquarters in Montreal, Canada, and it is connected to Science-Matrix, a professional company specializing in bibliometry and evaluation.
InCities – addendum to Web of Science
Ministry of Science and Higher Education has ordered a pilot license for access to InCities tool on platform Web of Science for 2018. InCities is used to analyse data stored in databases SCIE, SSCI, JCR and ESI ad is allows to compare scientific heritage of researchers and institutions, analyse usage of journals in institutions, develop research strategies and can aid in publication and staff-administrative decisions, see compendium. At the beginning pilot license included 79 institutions selected by MNiSW. These were academic institutions including all units from the A+ category, universities meeting the requirements needed to aply for programmes „Research school” and „Regional excellence initiative” and governmental agencies that fund scientific research: MNiSW, NCBiR, NCN and NAWA. In October the license has been expanded to all institutions registered in national license Web of Science.
InCities is also available from all IP numbers registered by institutions to WBN national licences. Each user wishing to utilize the tool must have a personal account on the Web of Science platform. The account can be made by choosing the „Sign in” option in the menu and then „Register”, see compendium: tab „dostęp i logowanie”. Warning: users, who already have a personal account on Web of Science platform, should log out of their Web of Science account before their first entry to InCities, then clear out their browsers data, and log in directly through InCities website using login and password of their personal account on Web of Science. An instruction for proxy servers administrators is also available.
