Modeling Fully Ceramic Microencapsulated (FCM) Fuel – TRISO sample polishing methods for the experiment
2021.01.14 14:16 - Katarzyna KuźniarTri-structural ISOtropic (TRISO) particle fuel is commonly used in the high temperature gas-cooled reactor (HTGR). TRISO fuel production has been developing for more than six decades, during which the fuel has been modified, and tested to achieve the lowest possible degree of damage to the sample. Despite this, a new experiment on TRISO fuel particles is planned. The main aim of the experiment is to check the TRISO fuel particle for damage occurrence, through the Raman method of spectroscopy. The research assumes to conduct an experiment on different types of TRISO fuel, produced in different periods of time. The experiment will start with sample preparation by polishing it. The TRISO sample is polished to obtain the cross-section of the sample. In this seminar, the main focus will be on two ways of polishing. It is assumed that the way of polishing influences the results for further research.
