Abstract:
The kilonova process foreseen by Paczyński and Li has been named after predicted associated optical brightness comparable to the brightness of some thousand novae explosions. Such a process may follow merging of two neutron stars or a neutron star/black hole merger. Gravitational waves accompany optical emissions in both cases.
