FLARE (First Light and Reionisation Explorer) satellite project - notes from the first science meeting
2016.03.18 0:40 - adminFLARE (First Light and Reionisation Explorer) is a satellite project that will be submitted to ESA for the selection of the 5th medium size mission (M5). FLARE will be a space mission dedicated to probe a very high redshift universe and the first cosmic objects. It will conduct unique ultra-deep and wide-area sky surveys in the wavelength range 1-5 microns. It is proposed as a 1.8 - 2.0 meter telescope equipped with a 900 arcmin2 wide-field Near-IR camera and a 1-arcmin IFU. If selected, it is launched in the late 2020's.
The first FLARE science meeting took place 14-16 March in Marseille. I present the impressions from the meeting and the main points discussed - i.e. the description of project itself, and its main science goals.
All interested are invited
