After fifty years the physics of black holes is still a very active area of research. The interpretation of horizons in the AdS/CFT framework has shed light on many issues and sharpened them. I will describe some of these in the seminar.

FAST QUANTUM SEARCH OF REAL DATABASES

A fast quantum search algorithm for searching real databases is proposed.
The algorithm uses Grover’s algorithm and a realization of quantum memory.
The solution of the problem is given in the language of quantum circuits.

FLAVOR OF SUPERSYMMETRY

We discuss the most general flavor structure of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model. We review the experimental constraints on the magnitude of flavor-violating supersymmetric parameters, both in the squark and in the slepton sectors. We finally present examples of how a non-trivial flavor structure of the MSSM can affect Higgs physics, Yukawa coupling unification and direct SUSY searches at the LHC.

Measurement of the charged-pion polarisability @ Compass

In the paper published in Physical Review Letter in February 2015 the COMPASS experiment at CERN reported the key measurement on the strong interaction: pion polarisability. This very precise result is in good agreement with theory and in tension with previous dedicated measurements. The difference between previous measurements and theory remained unexplained for more than two decades. In the seminar I will explain why this measurement is in great importance for our understanding of the strong interaction.

Cosmological singularity problem
2015.03.05 10:00 - adminObservational cosmology and known general relativity models of the Universe strongly suggest an existence of the initial cosmological singularity. The BKL scenario is thought to be a generic solution to the Einstein equations near the singularity. One believes that imposition of quantum rules onto this scenario may heal the singularity. Quantum BKL scenario could be used as a realistic model of the very early Universe. The Bianchi IX model underlies the BKL so its quantization should open the door to the quantization of the BKL. We present some preliminary analysis concerning this issue.

Fizyka fuzji i rozszczepienia jądrowego a nowe źródła energii
2015.01.22 14:12 - adminPodczas gdy reaktory jądrowe od wielu dziesiątków lat stanowią nierozłączny element światowego systemu energetycznego, to jednak ich efektywność w stosunku do innych źródeł energii ciągle jest nie zadawalająca. Na podstawie naszej nowej koncepcji reaktora Dual Fluid Reactor przedstawione zostaną możliwości obejścia wad obecnych rozwiązań fizycznych i technicznych oraz sposób w jaki można porównywać ze sobą różne źródła energii.

Supersymmetry on the eve of the LHC RUN II
2015.01.12 8:29 - adminI will discuss the present status of supersymmetry after the null results of direct searches at the first run of the LHC. I will address issues of the naturalness of the theory and highlight a few misconceptions commonly found in the literature. I will argue that there is plenty of room for hope of a discovery in the 14 TeV run of the LHC, or in upcoming dark matter detection searches.

2014.12.15 13:38 - MarcinSadowskiMechanisms of structural changes in (bio)molecular systems can either be determined from experimental probability distributions or from physics-based multiscale simulations, including microscopic theories, e.g. Molecular Mechanics/Molecular Dynamics (MM/MD), Quantum Dynamics (QD), Quantum-Classical Molecular Dynamics (QCMD), or mezoscopic models such as Lagrangian and Quaternion Molecular Dynamics (LQMD) or Brownian Dynamics (BD). Symplectic algorithms conserving the total energy are preferable in molecular dynamics simulations.
